What advantages are there over HIFU against other radical treatments?

• HIFU is ‘non-invasive’ – therefore no surgery and no scars.
• HIFU can be performed as a day case; therefore admitted early in the morning and generally able to leave hospital later the same day. Other radical treatments usually require several days in hospital.
• Erectile dysfunction and incontinence are less likely.

 

What possible side effects are there?

Erectile dysfunction can occur in some men. Other side effects such as urethral strictures, epididymitis, incontinence and rectourethral fistulas are rare
